Procurement of the A-10A for the USAF totalled two prototypes, six pre-production aircraft, and 707 production aircraft, although initial plans called for the procurement of 750 aircraft.
Two YA-10A prototypes (serial numbers 71-1369 and 71-1370) won the AX competition against the Northrop YA-9A prototypes. These were followed by six YA-10A pre-production aircraft (construction numbers A10-0001 - A10-0006, serial numbers 73-1664 - 73-1669). YA-10A 73-1664 was later modified into the only two-seat A-10, the night/adverse weather YA-10B (called N/AW A-10).

This basic info of current aircraft stats is compiled by Oliver Tafel, Warthog Aircraft Database Co-Editor, and Joachim Jacob, Warthog News Editor and Administrator. In a second step, we will go into the archives to document some more individual aircraft history details (including historic pictures). We would be very grateful for any support from A-10 professionals and other contributors, like aviation enthusiasts and photographers, to further update this very first and unique online A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft database. Sorry, but because this database is hosted by Blogger for free, we can't provide a searchable database.
